Trooper Patrick Ambroise

It is with deep regret that the Florida Highway Patrol announces the untimely death of Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Patrick Ambroise. Trooper Ambroise was killed when his patrol car was struck from behind while he was stopped on the shoulder of the Florida Turnpike, near Okeechobee Road. A vehicle traveling on the turnpike suddenly veered onto the shoulder and struck Trooper Ambroise's 2006 Crown Vic, causing it to burst into flames, and trapping him inside.

Trooper Patrick Ambroise began his career with the Florida Highway Patrol as a graduate of the 111th recruit class in Tallahassee on January 12, 2006. He was assigned to Troop K, Miami upon graduation where he has been serving since. He is survived by his wife, Roberta, and two daughters, ages 5 years old and 3 months old.

Trooper Ambroise becomes the 43rd trooper who has been killed in the line of duty since 1936. Please keep Trooper Ambroise and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

We are privileged and honored that the United States Honor Flag has been provided to the Florida Highway Patrol in memory of Trooper Patrick Ambroise. The United States Honor Flag left the Police Memorial in Washington D.C. and was flown to Miami, where it will accompany Trooper Ambroise until his internment date.

Since September 2001, the United States Honor Flag has paid tribute to those who have lost their life in the line of duty protecting our lives, our homes, and our country and also those who currently serve our communities and our nation. In the spirit of patriotism, Chris Heisler and his wife Tammy formed The Honor Network in support of our nation’s heroes. For more information on this patriotic symbol, see http://ushonorflag.homestead.com/index.html
