According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, motor vehicle crashes are the #1 killer of people between the ages of five and 34. To bring attention to what motorists can do to make our roadways safer for everyone, the Florida Highway Patrol partnered with the Dori Slosberg Foundation and other safety advocates as part of Florida Road Safety Week on March 12 - 17.

The week kicked off with the Geico Road Safety Tour, a bicycle ride that started in Miami and continued nearly 600 miles up the state to Florida’s Capital City. Riders stopped to participate in eight press conferences and events along the way to draw attention to their key message – Survive the Drive. The Patrol was pleased to escort the riders and to participate in every event. One of FHP’s very own, Lt. Bruce Doras out of Troop E in Miami, participated in the bicycle tour.
