Members of the Florida Highway Patrol attended this year’s National Police Memorial Ceremony in Washington, D.C., as part of National Police Week that was recognized May 11-16, 2011.
Col. David Brierton along with members of the FHP Honor Guard, including: Capt. Joe Lopez, Sgts. Dennis Hobbs, Louis Tejera, Dwayne Cooper, Frederick “Eric” Hall, Ray Wigfall, Cpl. Quentin Mills and Trooper Shenaqua Stringer, represented the Patrol in the events. Stringer escorted the family of Trooper Patrick Ambroise on special tours of the Washington D.C. area.
On May 12, the honor guard also had an opportunity to visit with Florida Congresswoman Sandy Adams and Congressman David Rivera. Adams provided the honor guard a personal tour of the Capitol building.
In addition to rendering honors to the Ambroise family and to the fallen heroes of the Florida Highway Patrol, the honor guard conducted a ceremony for the U.S. Honor flag at the U.S. Pentagon located in Arlington, Va.
