121, Second to None!
The Florida Highway Patrol has 59 new state troopers who joined its ranks as the 121st Basic Recruit Class graduated from the FHP’s Law Enforcement Training Academy on Feb. 9. The graduation ceremony marked the conclusion of an intensive 27-week training period that prepared them for careers as Florida State Troopers and instilled the FHP’s core values of courtesy, service and protection.
Col. Brierton and Jimbo Fisher
During his remarks, Col. David Brierton, director of the Florida Highway Patrol, congratulated the graduates for their incredible accomplishment. Brierton commended graduates for choosing law enforcement as their careers. Jimbo Fisher, head football coach for Florida State University, was the keynote speaker at the ceremony.
During the commencement ceremony, the FHP honored recruit Kevin O’Keefe with the Executive Director’s Award for achieving the highest grade point average at the Academy. The Patrol also presented the Director’s Award, honoring the recruit demonstrating extraordinary courtesy and dedication during the training, to recruit Richard Maples.
