FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, APRIL 6, 2007
Tallahassee - The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is pleased to announce that its Florida Licensing On Wheels (FLOW) mobile will be at the “Eggstravaganza” which is a great opportunity to participate in two public safety initiatives recently implemented by the Department.
The Department is encouraging parents to obtain a State of Florida identification card for their children over the age of 5. Having a Florida ID for a child will allow law enforcement immediate access to information on the child, including their picture which is critical during an emergency or an investigation.
The FLOW staff will also provide driver license and ID card holders the opportunity to enter emergency contact information into a secure database only accessible to law enforcement. This is another critical tool used by law enforcement officials in cases like a serious traffic accident where an emergency contact, especially family members, need to be notified.
The cost of an original ID card is $3.00 – duplicates are $10.00. Parents will need to bring an original or certified copy of the child’s birth certificate and a second form of identification, such as a social security card. Other driver license and motor vehicle services will also be available.
We are bringing the office to you. Come visit the DHSMV FLOW mobile at the following location:
