Florida Highway Patrol Criminal Interdiction Unit Conducts Traffic Stop Leading to 91 Felony Charges and Four Misdemeanors
~Two suspects arrested + 95 charges= countless citizens saved from fraud~
MONTICELLO, Fla.- Tuesday, February 27th, a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Trooper with the Criminal Interdiction Unit (CIU) spotted a silver Audi traveling below the minimum speed on Interstate 10 (I-10) eastbound near mile marker 220. The CIU Trooper initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the driver was identified as Tyriq Daiquan George, 27, of Seffner, Florida, a Habitual Traffic Offender with a Revoked Driver License. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Jimmy Lee King, 31, of Tampa, Florida.
A search of the vehicle revealed multiple stolen credit cards, counterfeited credit cards, credit card skimmers, and a small amount of marijuana. The driver and passenger were both arrested on multiple charges.
The driver, Tyriq George, was charged with the following:
- F.S.S. 817.60.6A Falsely embossed/altered credit card – 3 counts – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.60.6b Possession of Counterfeited credit card 2 or more – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.5685.3b2 Knowing Unlawful Possession of 5 or more personal identification information of another person – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.568.2a Criminal Use of Personal Identification Information – 38 counts – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.631 Possession of credit card making equipment – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.625 Use of scanning device, skimming device, or re-encoder to defraud – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.61 Fraudulent use of credit card – Felony
- F.S.S. 322.34.5 Operating Motor Vehicle while driver license revoked for Habitual Traffic Offender – Felony
- F.S.S. 893.13.6b Possession of Marijuana – Misdemeanor
- F.S.S. 893.147.1 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor
The passenger, Jimmy King, was charged with the following:
- F.S.S. 817.611.2a Trafficking/Possession of 5 to 14 counterfeit credit cards – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.60.6A Falsely embossed/altered credit card – 6 counts – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.60.6b Possession of Counterfeited credit card 2 or more – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.5685.3b2 Knowing Unlawful Possession of 5 or more personal identification information of another person – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.568.2a Criminal Use of Personal Identification Information -32 counts – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.631 Possession of credit card making equipment – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.625 Use of scanning device, skimming device, or re-encoder to defraud – Felony
- F.S.S. 817.61 Fraudulent use of credit card – Felony
- F.S.S. 893.13.6b Possession of Marijuana – Misdemeanor
- F.S.S. 893.147.1 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor
Both individuals were transported to Jefferson County Jail without incident. This investigation remains active and additional charges could be pending.
