PUNTA GORDA, Fla.– Today, Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to a be on the lookout (BOLO) alert from the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office, who attempted to stop a stolen silver Lexus that was traveling south on Interstate 75 (I-75). The suspect vehicle refused to stop for the Sarasota County deputies, who ended their pursuit at around mile marker 170.

The suspect vehicle continued traveling recklessly, weaving through traffic and speeding, reaching 115 miles per hour at one point, well above the posted speed limit of 70.

As Troopers crossed the overpass near mile marker 116, they activated their emergency lights and siren to conduct a traffic stop on the Lexus. The driver failed to stop, and the Lexus increased speed and conducted evasive maneuvers to elude the Troopers.

Multiple units from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office positioned themselves south of the pursuit to set up stop sticks on the stolen vehicle; although the stop sticks were successfully deployed, the Lexus continued to flee from law enforcement.

The Lexus made several aggressive lane changes in front of the patrol vehicle and threw an unknown object from the passenger-side window. Troopers attempted to perform a precision immobilization technique (PIT maneuver) to stop the Lexus but were unsuccessful. Stop sticks were deployed again, making contact with the Lexus, but they did not prevent it from continuing to flee.

Additional units from the FHP Criminal Interdiction Unit (CIU) and multiple units from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office followed the Lexus as it exited I-75 at mile marker 105 and crashed on Golden Gate Parkway. The single occupant of the Lexus refused to comply with Troopers, barricading themselves inside the vehicle and forcing law enforcement to extract the driver from the vehicle.

The driver of the stolen silver Lexus was identified as Aaliyah Christian Foster, 22, of Fort Myers. Foster had an out-of-county warrant for escaping from a Hollywood, Florida jail this year following a previous sentence of fleeing law enforcement, for which she was charged in 2023.
