2017 Civilian of the Quarter
January through March | Ms. Jamie Pedicone
Congratulations for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Civilian Employee of the Quarter from January through March 2017.
After losing the Senior Evidence Property Custodian for Troop C, Pedicone stepped up and diligently assumed the primary management of the evidence room. Pedicone has worked with Lieutenant Eric French in becoming more familiar with the responsibilities, without complaining, even though you are down the position. Pedicone is always willing to help the troopers when they need her assistance and she seeks help from Lieutenant French when she needs guidance.
Pedicone continuously goes above and beyond her job duties and for the troop and help it run more efficiently. Pedicone’s actions help better the Florida Highway Patrol.
April through June | Ms. Kerstin Holmes
Congratulations to Ms. Kerstin Holmes for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Civilian Employee of the Quarter from April through June 2017.
Since 2016, Holmes has overseen the processing of 686 evidence cases totaling 1,966 pieces of evidence. Through her hard work and coordination with the Office of the General Counsel, Holmes was able to facilitate a destruction of evidence in Broward County which the District had not accomplished in the last six years.
Holmes makes herself available all hours of the day to assist Troopers with the evidence process. The Department has also received correspondence from other Law Enforcement Agencies, acknowledging Holmes’ knowledge and professionalism during interactions with laboratory personnel. Holmes’ actions help better the Florida Highway Patrol.
July through September | Mrs. Laurie Strauss
Congratulations to Mrs. Laurie Strauss for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Civilian Employee of the Quarter from July through September 2017.
Strauss has completed special projects that have enhanced Troop I operations. which also significantly increased her work load. During the buildup to and the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, Strauss created numerous files to assist in documenting information and tracking resources. Strauss was also instrumental in the completion of the Troop I LESO rifle project. Strauss’ assistance was vital for the successful completion of the project and was completed ahead of the assigned deadline. Strauss was able to perform these additional assignments, in the midst of performing the many day to day administrative task she already has.
Strauss is an integral member of Troop I Headquarters team and her contributions throughout the year ensure the continuity of their operations. Strauss’ willingness to take on and complete any project with an ever-present positive attitude is commendable.
October through December | Ms. Maritza Villalta
Congratulations to Ms. Maritza Villalta for being selected as the Florida Highway Patrol Civilian Employee of the Quarter from October through December 2017.
Villalta continually supports the operation of the troop by ensuring that the training records for all members assigned to Troop G are kept up to date and in order. Additionally, Villalta also maintains all the training records for the members assigned to the Bureau of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary/Reserve and members assigned to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence.
Villalta is a very conscientious employee that takes great pride in her position. Villalta works hard to stay organized and to ensure individual members files and paperwork are kept up to date. Villalta always display a positive attitude and gets along with all her peers, making her a true team player. Villalta also assists when needed as the front office clerk.
Villalta is to be commended for her exceptional job performance and her willingness to go above and beyond. Villalta’s actions help better the Florida Highway Patrol.
